Blog 003 - Practice is relaxing
Jacob Harris"We talkin' about practice! Not a game, not a game, not a game, we talkin' about practice!" - Allen Iverson.
After a long day in the office, especially during the summer, the range calls my name. It is like an itch you just can't get rid of. For some reason, hitting little white balls to targets is soothing to me. I am known to be a range rat. I can hit balls for hours, especially if something doesn't feel right. I will usually do my typical warm up where I hit all the even numbered clubs in my bag and blast a few drivers praying they go as planned... if they don't the range time gets extended until I can't see anymore... you'll hear about my driver saga soon... it'll almost seem like a soap opera with all the drama.
In my personal opinion, which I think many people will agree with, you must practice in order to be a good golfer. By good golfer I mean under a 10 handicap. Controlling the club face and being able to have a consistent swing is very hard to do if you aren't playing very often. Yes there are some people out there that are scratch golfers and play 6 times a year... I am not a fan of those naturally talented players. They don't respect the grind!
My advice to those that are trying to play better, go practice. Go hit balls, go chip, go putt. Feel your swing and own it. Your game is your game. You can play however you want and score however you want. If you don't like your game then go look up some videos on Youtube. I recommend Padrig Harrington, meandmygolf, Bryson and even some of the major brands like Taylormade have some great videos that can help you find some great tips. It is very easy to get lost in the sauce with all the videos out there, so tread carefully down the rabbit hole.
That's all for today my fellow golf lunatics.
Talk soon,
