Blog - 002 - Jacob's view of golf

Golf. What a wonderful game. A game of ups and a game of downs. Full of joy and disappointment. Yeah very wonderful right?! Sounds more like an emotional roller coaster.

Welcome to my view of the beautiful game. I started really playing golf about 5 years ago and never thought I would fall in love with a game. When I get asked why I enjoy it so much, my answer is very simple. I enjoy golf because it is a challenge. I played sports growing up and even made it to the collegiate level, but this game is something else. You can be playing the round of your life and all it takes is one bad swing to turn that round from being monumental to a complete disaster. It truly turns into crisis management at some points. Best part is... it is your fault! Not the clubs, not the ball, not the grass... it's you! A true game of failure that will test you every chance it gets. 

Almost want to go grab a bottle of whiskey with a cigar and ask myself why in the world do I have so much fun playing a game that makes me feel that way. Sounds depressing with so much failure lol. 

It's not though, the relationships I have made over the years and the places I have gone have made every single second worth it. I have been able to meet people I would have never met before. I have been able to learn from some of the best players to ever play in El Paso and some of the current best players in the City! 

Personally, without golf I'm not sure what I would be doing today.

I hope you enjoy future blog posts of me talking about my good and bad rounds or even how impulsive I am sometimes with swing changes or even equipment.
